How does the Health app know how much water I have had to drink?

Update: I use Cronometer so my water and caffeine intake is driven from that.

Log water and daily nutrition? I noticed an ad on Pinterest today from Apple about a watch face that allows you to log your water intake as well as daily caloric/macro information.
