I have an iMac and a Macbook Air (both 2013) and I have a Thunderbolt cable to connect the two. I'd like to use the Macbook as an external monitor. When I connect the two, I don't see the "Arrangement tab" in the Displays tab under system preferences. Am I missing a step? Thank you!

This works to turn my iMac into the external monitor, but not the other way around (I want my macbook to be the 2nd monitor). I've tried cmd-f2 on the laptop but nothing happens. I've also tried the troubleshooting tips in that article.
Any tips? I appreciate the help!

Ahhh, missed that. You can't do what you want to do, the MacBook Air cannot be the target display.
