My mac shows no updates by it is still on version 10.10.5. How do I fix this?

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and depending on which MacBook Air model you have, download El Capitan, High Sierra, or Catalina. These are full-version upgrades and won't appear in the Updates list.
