In trying to open Photos, a box appears in the middle of the MacBook screen saying "closing the library" and my photos will not load. What do I do?

Try to reboot, then press Option-key while opening the Photos library and navigate to the desired library. If that fails, try to rebuild the library.

Go to the menu and select Force Quit. Then force quit Photos and reopen it.
