Under iCloud Drive I click "Options" but don't have the option to add "Desktop & Documents". I am wanting to backup my Macbook to iCould and be able to access all my docs via iPhone/iCloud.

Sorry if I sound green, but I have OS X Yosemite 10.10.5. Does this mean I don't have the ability to sync desktop and documents to iCloud with my version of the Macbook Air? Thanks!
That's correct. You would need to upgrade (if your Mac allows that). Or the other option would be to manually move those items that you want to sync to the iCloud Drive folder on your Mac.
