When I go to use my headphones, they do not play. It sounds like I am using no headphones at all. This just occurred after most recent update,13.6.1
i have shut the phone off and tried multiple headphones.

Check the charging port for lint or other debris and see this:
If your headphones don‘t work with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

I figured it out!
it was the dongle that was malfunctioning!
once the new dongle was inserted, the phone was able to recognize the headphones!
