Automatically brightness adjustment on MacBook Air not working

How do I get the automatically brightness adjustment on MacBook Air to work? Already installed updated iOS version, checked and unchecked auto adjustment box and it's still the same, I can only get to change manually.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15

Change your Mac display's brightness - Apple Support

It seems "Automatically adjust brightness" is not working. First please make sure its ambient light sensor is not obstructed, and then try resetting that Mac's NVRAM: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support.
