I'm trying to backup my iphone on windows itunes, but when the backup is complete it still indicates it was never backed up. When I go to the location I can see the backup.
Do you have any third party security software? This can interfere with the way backups are saved. There are also two possible locations for backups depending on whether iTunes is installed via the Microsoft Store or a download from apple.com.

So I deactivated the antivirus software, and it still did not work. It took me forever to figure out how to install the software directly from Apple instead of through the Microsoft Store, but eventually I did. I removed the microsoft store version, then installed using apple's installer. BAM! It instantly recognized my back up and I'm in business.
I'm not sure why the Apple website defaults install through the Microsoft Store, but I really wish it didn't.
