I'm making a slideshow and adding music from my itunes library, but when I try to shorten one of the songs so it doesn't leave a long silent gap before the next song begins, itunes won't save the time I set in "options." It just keeps going back to the original song length. How can I fix this problem?

I just found the iTunes folder...and it says I have read and write privilege, so why isn't this working? Very frustrating!!
Try holding down option+cmd as you launch iTunes to open it in safe mode. Any change?
Are you using AirPlay to listen to the song? Using AirPlay can prevent changes being stored.

I already know where the song is located. I just want to be a be able to shorten the length. I've done this in the past for my playlists, so I'm wondering if any updates I've downloaded have eliminated this function.
I'm playing it in iTunes, and I've checked my permissions for this file and it's unlocked and I have the read and write privilege. It's just not working. I even shut down my computer and restarted it, but nothing has changed.
I just solved my own problem by saving the song in an ACC version. That shortened the length to just what I wanted. Thanks for your help.
I tried finding the iTunes folder in Finder so I could follow your directions, but it says it doesn't exist. Now what do I do?
In iTunes you can right-click on the song you want to update and use Show In Finder to reveal its location. If your song is in the cloud you would need to download it first.

Have you checked the permissions for the particular file you're trying to work with?
