It’s 2020 and this is still a problem!!!

Just bought a new MacBook Pro and this is still an issue. Everything from My Photostream is still loading all pictures to the Photo App.

Spent over an hour with tech support and they conceded that it’s a software issue. Until this last update Photostream has to be turned off/on and connected to power to even get new photos to show up. That part seems to be working without the off/on. Haven’t tried not being connected to power to see if it still works.

That all said, the issue here is loading everything into the photos app. PLEASE fix this because as the original poster in 2015 relayed; it’s a pain in the as$ to delete hundreds of photos I don’t want on the MacBook.

It’s shameful that the programmers have become so lazy. This issues started 5yrs ago based on the original post and is still not fixed.

Why are we paying top dollar to get crap like we expect from Windows?

Attaching screenshot of original post. The problem still exists!!!

It is an inconvenient feature, but not a bug. My Photo Stream is supposed to import automatically all new photos from My My Photo Stream. In the Photos.app on the Mac is no selective import from my Photo stream possible, it has never been possible since Photos for Mac came out. Apple is encouraging us to use iCloud Photos instead of My Photo Stream. It looks like My Photo Stream is about to be phased out. Only users with an old AppleID can enable it since macOS 10.14 Mojave came out in 2018. And users with a new AppleID can no longer sign up for My Photo Stream. See: My Photo Stream - Apple Support

If you recently created your Apple ID, My Photo Stream might not be available.
If My Photo Stream isn't available, use iCloud Photos
to keep your photos and videos in iCloud.

My Photo stream has not even been updated to support videos or Live Photos or Portrait Mode Photos. It is not a good choice when using the newer iPhone models.
