Floating microphone icon refuses to go away

It works for me on Mojave. On Catalina, you must say two things in order:

1. Open Siri
2. Voice Control Off (or Quit Voice Control).

Do the above, and do not manually uncheck enable voice control in its Accessibility panel beforehand.

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Community! We understand you cannot get the floating microphone icon to disappear. We're happy to help! We'd recommend checking to make sure dictation settings are off. Dictate your messages and documents on Mac:

• On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Keyboard, click Dictation, then click Off.
