How to fix crackling in right AirPod Pro when noise cancellation and/or transparency is selected?

It doesn't crackle when NC and transparency is turned off - but the sound quality is not as good. I've cleaned the bud, replaced the ear tip, forgot the device, reset the airpods, made sure all systems are updated, etc. No luck. I think Apple may have to sent me a replacement... unless someone here has anything else I can try.
