Sometimes (not always) when I try to open a keynote presentation, it tells me I need to update keynote - however, I already have the latest version and it does still sometimes open the files I'm clicking on. What can i do to make it work properly?

You can confirm the Keynote version by opening Keynote - go the the Keynote menu and select About Keynote.
If its not Keynote 10.1, do the following:
I'm using MacOS Catalina, version 10.15.3.
When I click on keynote in my applications it says the version is 6.6.2, but when I go onto the App Store, it doesn't allow for more updates and looks like I have the 10.1 version. So I can't actually update it as it only gives me the option to open the app.
What is the precise version of Keynote and Mac OS you are using?
