Downloading edited pictures

I downloaded pictures from my iPhone to my Macbook, after I edited the pictures using the App Photos.

When I dowloaded the edited pictures.....the pictures were not the edited ones but the originals.

Only downloading the pictures in jpeg format I got the result.

Is it impossible to download edited pictures in the Heic format?

Many thanks in advance!

The iPhone is storing the edited versions as a JPEG file, and the original will be a HEIC file, if the Camera setting are "High Efficiency"

After downloading the edited versions, you can convert the JPEGs to HEIC files using the Preview.app, if you want to save storage.
