Can I connect a Mac mini mid 2014 to iMac mid 2011

Is it possible for me connect a Apple Mac mini Core i5 1.4 GHz (Late 2014) 4GB RAM 500GB, to a IMac mid 2011? And also if so would I need a female to female thunderbolt cable?

Thx.

Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support

You need a Male-to-Male Thunderbolt cable. (There are no Female-to-Female Thunderbolt cables.)

Apple Thunderbolt Cable (0.5 m) - White - Apple

Hi. I have connected my Mac mini to iMac. Pressed command f2 on wireless keyboard. Screen goes to Mac mini. I get to start up for language etc. I can’t choose or proceed as wireless keyboard n mouse not working. I have a wired keyboard attached to iMac also. Mac mini doesn’t let me click or anything so can’t proceed. Please help
