permissions problem

I'm getting 'don't have permission' to save documents in two different programs, even though when I go to finder to get info for the untitled document, it shows I have read/write permission.

I searched existing related questions, latest was from 2013.

I'm on a iMac (21.5, Late 2015), macOS Mojave version 10.14.6 (18G103).

What do I need to do to clear this problem?
