how to move mail into folders

im trying to organize my received emails into named folders. How do I move emails into my folders?

Yes; do look at using Smart Mailboxes. As the details here might not be clear from the Apple documentation, Smart Mailboxes are saved searches, and that present the matched mail messages as the contents of a “Smart” mailbox. The mail messages aren’t moved around from their location, either.
