Lost AirPods

I was looking for my AirPods with Find My and it said they were at an address next door, but it also said that my other devices were there too (but they were with me) however, several hours later I powered my phone off to see if it would help better locate them and now they're not even listed! What's happening?

You won’t get any better location for your AirPods than you previously had, because your AirPods are not currently paired to your iPhone.
