I have way to many home movies in VOB format. I would like to convert a few of them to MP4 so I can send some to my sister. The app store offers several programs for this purpose, but I'm hesitant to download one because there are so many. Can anyone recommend one to me, or tell me how to do I can do this without an app.

If you get your sister to download the free VLC programme, she will be able to play VOB files using that instead of you having to convert them first.
Is that a useful solution?
Handbrake was able to convert .vob to .mp4 at the 1.0 release and it is still free at v1.3.3. VideoLan's free VLC media player can convert .vob to .mp4 too.
