Possible to use iTunes 12.6.5.3 with iPhone 11 Pro Max?

At work and subsequently at home I use an older version of iTunes which still contains the old store-version 12.6.5.3 on PC. I havent had a problem using older devices but it refuses to connect to my newer iPhone 11 Pro Max. Is there anyway to resolve this--we still use this version at work--or is it just going to be they are incompatible and the Pro Max needs a newer version of iTunes or it wont connect? Thanks
