Catalina Finder hides MacHD-Data

iMAC 27" Lat 2017

Just upgraded from ElCapitan to Catalina.

Finder shows only the Mac HD (WHich is system, read only, I understand the split).

Finder does not show the Mac HD-Data, where all files are.

Disk Utility shows both.

How do I get finder to show Mac HD-Data?

You don't. The Data volume Is hidden. Everything is directly accessible through Mac HD just as it was in previous macOS versions. This is how Catalina works. The Data volume is hidden along with three other volumes setup by APFS: Preboot, VM, and Recovery. The latter contains the software needed for Recovery Mode just like the Recovery HD partition of before.
