How can I force my iPad Pro to finish restoring from an iCloud backup?

The restoring process has been stucked unfinished for months, and since then I cannot get automatic updates of the software.

but I cannot find anywhere a way to finish or cancelling the restoring from the backup

iPad Pro, iOS 12

Have you tried stopping the restore, restarting the device, then trying again?
