Copy Paste between MacBook Pro and iPhone XR

I am unable to copy text from MacBook Pro and paste to iPhone XR. However I am able to copy text from my iPhone XR and paste it in my MacBook Pro. Normally both devices should allow copy and paste between each other.

I have tried switching on/off the Handoff in the MacBook and iPhone settings along with restart of both.

I also have the same Apple ID, wifi and bluetooth on both.

Can anybody provide directions to fix this problem.
