How to use Macbook Pro with external dock & monitor?

Can I use Macbook Pro with an external dock (Thunderbolt / or USB to connect more devices) and external monitor with DisplayPort?

Do I need to keep the Macbook Pro turned-on (power) all the time with display lid closed or open?

Is there any dock available which I can use to turn on / off the Macbook Pro?

Dock does not show on external monitor when on left side Hey there, I set my Dock to appear on the left side of the screen. On my MacBook screen this works. But on my external I cannot get the Dock to appear like I can when it is on the bottom. Here is a screenshot of my Dock settings: Is it possible to use the Dock on the left side on my external monitor too? Thanks.

Fixing Dock on primary monitor on top of my Macbook Hi there, I have a 2021 Macbook Pro running Ventura 13.1. When I set my Macbook under my LG primary screen, I can't get the dock to appear on my LG primary monitor. It works fine, when I place the mac left or right to the screen. Then I can also use the rectangle in the displays setting and switch the dock from my mac to the LG and back. But as soon as I position the Mac under the screen and adjust this in the settings, the dock stays on the Mac. Can anyone help me out with this how to get the dock on my primary screen on top? Thanks!

Yes. The Mac must be connected to power (via the dock or directly), and have an external display, keyboard and mouse/trackpad (Bluetooth or wired).
