Photos missing from iCloud backup

I did an iCloud backup of my old iPhone 6. However, all of my photos taken between Sept. 2018 and May 2020 are missing from the backup. The old iPhone that I took the photos on is now inoperable. Is there a way to retrieve the missing photos, or are they lost on the broken device?

Photos from old phone backup missing I have realised suddenly that all my old iphone6s backed up photos are missing from both iCloud and iPhone11. LOST PHOTOS - Didn't all upload to my iCloud from old phone! I had to hand in my phone back to my ex-employer as I left the company a month ago. The night before I tried uploading and saving everything to the drive, as I had been paying for increased storage etc, however my photo's kept pausing and now I have lost 2 years worth of photos. I have 2015-2018 and 2021, but nothing in-between. Can I restore all these old photos to my phone as they were on the final backup my phone did? I've looked for them on iCloud photos and cannot find them, but hoping they'd be saved as part of the old backup?

If iCloud Photo Library was enabled during iCloud backup, photos won't be included as they are already in iTunes. Make sure that iCloud Photo Library is enabled on the new phone, then leave it charging overnight with a good Wi-Fi connection.
