Find My iPhone and Two-Factor Authentication

My wife misplaces her iPhone 7 -- a lot. It's usually in the house somewhere. To find it, she or I log into her iCloud account and use Find My iPhone to make the phone "ping", and we find it pretty fast. But since we went to iOS 13, if we try to log into her iCloud, we first have to do Two-Factor authentication, meaning we need to retrieve a numeric code from very phone we can't find before logging in, and we have no way of using Find My iPhone to find it. Anybody else find a basic logic problem with this? Is there a way around it? Thanks for any help.

Using https://www.icloud.com/find/ does not require a code.
