Quicktime won't play all mp4

Hi some files won't play with Quicktime, I have to right click and "open with VLC" is there an add on or something I need for my QuickTime? ( 10.50 ) on Catalina (10.15.5)

mp4 is a container. If the codec isn't recognized by QuickTime your only options is to use alternative player as VLC or IINA (https://iina.io).
