No one will be open your iPhone and never use it as long as you do not remove the iPhone from your Apple ID account.

Don'ts

If you remove the device from your account after you erase it, Activation Lock will be turned off. This allows another person to turn on and use your device.

Well. The phone was for an ex but he decided to clean my bank account out and I asked for the phone back. He won’t give it to me. I suspended the service but he is trying to sell it and I don’t want anyone to be able to use it. Even as a tablet. So I heard Apple can disable them but I’m not finding info on that
