Startup in Safe Mode, followed by a normal restart and then try the 10.15.5 update.

If that does not work, then you can also use either the 10.15.5 Standalone Update or the 10.15.5 Combo Update.

for the standalone update, go to > https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2039?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

for the combo update, go to > https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2040?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
