iMac Mid 2011 current software is 10.12.6 will not update to 10.15.5. how do I get iMac to update? When update runs only thing that comes up is that iMovie update is not compatible.

You can't upgrade that Mac to 10.15. It can only go as high as High Sierra (10.13).

Some of the older Older iMacs, like late 2009 to 2011 models can only be upgraded to macOS High Sierra (macOS 13 ).
