Created a new Apple ID but now need to delete

Hi folks I hope you are all well.


I created a new Apple ID for my brother in law on my iMac but he then bought his own PC. Now need to delete, or at least disable, the new ID but I cannot recall the password. It is still on my iMac just cant get rid of it!

I still have access to my original ID which is working fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

Enter the Apple (iCloud) ID and click Forgot Password.

You can deactivate or delete.

All purchases made using an Apple ID are tied to the ID. Delete the ID and you will need to download them using your new ID. There have been posts by people who have contacted Apple Support and they were told that if you delete an ID associated with an email address, you can never reuse the email address for an Apple ID.   Make sure you sign out from the places in the 4th link before deleting the ID.

Are you the administrator on the Mac? Was your brother in law using a standard user Account on the Mac? If yeses, then you could delete his standard user account. And see Eric Root's link on deleting an Apple ID, but you also mentioned disabling one. In this context, you can deactivate one. Note that Apple prefers deactivation for the obvious reason mentioned below. So, if still are thinking of disabling/deactivating or deleting, see:

Hi Donv, thanks for the suggestion.


Tried everything but not getting anywhere. I am the administrator but I suspect that I did not set up the additional user properly and that this is the issue. I have attached a screenshot. This is as far as I can get so I am doing something stupid!
