Backing up your Mac

How do you select less files to back up so that I can fit just enough on my usb drive? I can only hold up to 64gb when my laptop needs 80+ for it to begin the back up. Thanks!

Hold shift key click on first file ( just an example if there are 100 files , click on on 80 th file ) , the first 80 files will be selected leaving 20 files and then drag and drop to an external hard drive connected https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/mchl027f1d66/mac

Use get info to read the size of each file https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mchlp1774/10.14/mac/10.14
