Imovie - upgraded mac and lost it

I had iMovie on my mac (version 10.14.3), and the system was upgraded and i lost iMovie as the latest is not compatible with my system. In applications it is there although faint with a no exit line through it. I have gone to at the apple store and clicked on purchases and found iMovie there. Clicked download, but it will not open if i click open. it is not showing as an application. How do I get it back?

Drag your iMovie application to the trash, but do not empty trash just yet.

Log into the App Store as you did before and click on purchases as before and this time you should see iMovie to download.

If successful you can empty the trash, if not drag it back out.
