Apple phone call

I received a phone call that my iCloud account was trying to be hacked or something. Does Apple makes calls of this type ? If so I need a number to recall because I just hung up not sure if the call was legit.

Suspicious phone call Received an automated call today from a local number that stated that my Apple information had been compromised and warned me not to use my Apple device to purchase anything. It then asked me if I wanted to connect to Apple Support to address the issue. It was suspicious especially since it was from a local number and was automated so I disconnected the call. Had any one else had this happen? Is it a type of scam?
