I can’t upgrade my MacBook Air. Threads addressing this suggest it is possible to upgrade to versions of El Capitan but then provide links to macOS Catalina. I need step by step instructions with links. Can anybody help? Thanks.

If the message says update, it sounds like you are trying to download an update rather than an upgrade.

Thanks guys, I know that link well. The problem is it doesn’t work unless you have step-by-step instructions. In order to get to El Capitan you need to begin somewhere. I followed instructions and they didn’t work. Be assured—I know this link well.
