Duplicating DVD

I am trying to duplicate a DVD containing a video of my daughter's play. I'm using the Disk Utility feature, using instructions provided from several sources. When I get to the "Creating Image" progress window, I get the following error message:

Unable to create "Harvey." (Input/output error)

I have tried it on two different old MacBook Pros (15-inch, Mid 2012, running OS X Yosemite v 10.10.5), and it happens on both. (I'm using the old devices because they have DVD drives.) I have run "Verify Disk" on the DVD I'm trying to duplicate, and it says the disk is fine. Any ideas?

BTW, I also tried it on my MacBook Pro Retina 15-inch mid-2015 running Mohave 10.14.6, using a new external drive. Same error occurred.
