How do I hide the page 1 numbering in Apple Pages word processing software?

If your thumbnails are displayed, click on the very first icon. This will change the right Format panel to the Section panel. There is a selection on that panel Hide on first page of section that will conceal the Headers and Footer on the first page. There is no means to only hide the page number without concealing all header and footer information on the first page.
