Other Versions of QuickTime?

I use QT to record clips for the game I play (part of screen) and when you record only part of the screen, it highlights that portion and leaves the rest of the screen dark. It makes it harder to see my screen when the rest of the screen is dark all of a sudden (even though I just play on the highlighted portion). In the QT I had before installing Catalina, I could press "option" on the keyboard while clicking the QT icon, and this would light up the whole screen again while still only recording the selected portion. The new QT cannot do this for whatever reason.

Also, the new version plays back many clips as if i were lagging hard while recording them, when I'm not actually lagging during the recording.

Is there any way for me to go to a previous version of QuickTime?
