I am trying to add some music stored on my hard drive to the Music app on my MacBook Pro so that I can copy them to my iPhone.
Unfortunately, the drag and drop will not work.
Please advise.

I had the same issue a while back and found the only way I could do it was to copy and paste into 'automatically add to music'. I hope that helps.

You mist be using macOS Catalina.
The Music app does not sync music to your phone. That is done in Finder now.

Unfortunately, the support page doesn't have anything about adding music from hard drive.
Only copying and pasting in the music app and then syncing the playlist works for now.
