Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and depending on which Mac model you have, download El Capitan, High Sierra, Mojave, or Catalina.

Catalina requires a 2012 or newer Mac(2013 for the desktop Mac Pros). If yours is too old, pick a different option above.
