Order of saved passwords in Safari?

I change my passwords frequently for websites. When I review my Safari list it will list every password change that I created for the same website. In order to clean up the list, or quickly retrieve the correct and latest password for a website, how does the chain save the password changes? Latest listed first or what order does the keychain store the passwords? no dates are available that I can review or find. Sometimes when I use fill-in it is not the correct password such as using another browser. Please explain how Safari/Preferences stores and lists all passwords. thanks

Sorry but this article does not answer my question. I have keychain and have been using it. It does not answer my question regarding the order of saves. I need dates. And keychain does not provide that.

I visit a website from home and might not return to it for 90 days. When autofill is not correct, I look up the username and password in keychain and I see 5 or 6 usernames and passwords for this one website because I change it frequently. And in Keychain, there are the 5 or 6 entries.

Which one is the most recent one saved?

After 3 attempts I get locked out. Does Keychain operate as FIFO or LIFO so to speak?

russianbluemom,

Thank you for the additional information regarding your device.

Safari does not appear to save passwords as a queue or a stack, but it does appear to save the passwords alphabetically per website. For example, if I have two logins saved for apple.com, user@example.com & general@example.com, general@example.com will be saved above user@example.com.

Now, if you have two saved logins with the same email, it does not appear to save them in any order, but very well could be by ascending date. With that being said, when you save a password that already has been saved but with a different password, it should just replace the entry.

Cheers.
