imovie voiceover not working on mac

Hello, I am using iMovie on a Mac Pro. Whenever I try to do a voiceover, it counts down but doesn’t record. I have checked system preferences and tried restarting the computer and iMovie. I also tried removing preferences by holding down the command and option key nothing works. The microphone works in other programs. Please assist. Thanks so much

Voice over in imovie Hi all, I'm not able to record a voice over in imovie. I'm using the built in microphone and have selected that option in the box next to the record button. I've also tried the System Setting option. I've tired recording by pressing the microphone icon and by selecting Record Voiceover in the drop down menu. I've checked my system preference on my Macbook and my voice is recognized and the volume indicator goes up and down. I've tried opening imovie while pressing the Option and Command key to clear the preference. Nothing is working! I don't know how to fix this. Help please.

Voiceover not recording in iMovie Hi guys. I am trying to record voiceover in iMovie. When I press the red button to record, it start recording "the silence". Input source is well fulfilled (I have tried with built-in micro and system settings) - same problem . In systems preferences, I use Internal Microphone, Input volume is at 100% and react correctly. Mute isn't checked. A record is created but sound still flat. I did a reset of preferences as suggested in a previous case but problem still exist. How to solve it? The app and OS are up to date. My iMac is running in 10.15.2 and Imovie in 10.1.14. Thanks in advance . Regards. Phil.

Hi, donahO,

Go to System Preferences/Security and Privacy/Privacy/Microphone and add iMovie to the box.
