My MacBook shows black screen when turned on. I have done SMC & PRAM reset but still no change. Although, my MacBook works well with external display. Any advise on how to resolve this issue.

It seems the built-in Display Assembly is defective and needs to be repaired. If Apple Stores or AASPs are not open in your region, then click on the "Contact Support" link at the top right of this page to see your options. In some regions it may be possible to mail the laptop to Apple for the repair.

I have the same issue with my MacBookPro 13" Early 2015 model since updating to MacOS Catalina 10.5 yesterday. I can't seem to get it to start in safe mode. And if I try recovery mode then I can't use the second screen, and can't read the black laptop screen even though I can see something is there...
More than 25000 complaints logged with Apple for black screen issue for 13” models of 2017 and 2018 but Apple has acknowledged only 2016 model for free repair. Rest all owners are cursing their fate!
I have a 15" 2016 MacBook Pro and I just started having issues yesterday with the back light on my display, was just told that it dose not fall in the free repair
Was this designed to fail on the 2017 model as soon as the warranty expired? Steve Jobs is rolling over in his grave. Does anyone know if there is a class action for this?
