Apple mail preferences open a window that runs from the bottom of the screen

When working to modify my mail preferences I recently discovered that the window for signatures and rules open running off the bottom of the screen (MacBook Retina 15" 11,2) I read a previous thread that went to a dead end. How do I solve this problem.

Boot into Safe Mode (How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support) by booting with the Shift key held down and check there to see if the problem persists.  Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing some system cache cleaning, volume verifying and directory repairing.

Thank you but no this is not the problem. Also I am having the same problem on my iMac retina desktop. I find that this develops with the rules list IF I select signatures first. Rules looks fine if I then go back and click General or Accounts prefs and then return to rules. I also get odd behavior from Signatures it I click other tabs and go to signatures.

OT,

You hit the nail on the head with "That's a lot of signatures". When I was able to get into the list I selected all and deleted all signatures. This returned the window to controllable size. Downside is that I have to recreate signatures but it was time to clean house.
