Flickering External monitor

I've just started using a new external monitor with a built in USB C hub. It is Thunderbolt 3 so it is powering my Macbook Pro whilst transferring data and extending the display. Every few minutes it flickers and then stops. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Device is a Macbook pro 2017 13" Two Port and the monitor is a BenQ PD2710QC

If you are using DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort, or USB-C inputs, this display should not flicker due to hardware issues when directly connected. Your USB-C hub could be influencing this. You did not mention its Make&Model.

If using HDMI, switch to DisplayPort family or USB-C input.
