Before looking too deeply for a technical fix, let’s start with an easy mechanical check. Is the tip of the Apple Pencil tightly/firmly screwed on?

If only slightly loose, this can have significant impact upon function and reliability of your Pencil.

Did you happen to drop the Pencil? Dropping the Apple Pencil can lead to tip damage, and can affect its performance. Dropping the Pencil is like dropping your piece of toast with butter and jam. It will always fall jam side down on the floor. The Pencil always seems to land on the tip.

Can you provide some additional detail as to the model of your iPad Pro? Are you using a screen protector?

The 2018 (3rd Generation) and 2020 (4th Generation) iPad’s Pro are known to been particularly “fussy” or unreliable when using some screen protector products.
