Volume slider misbehaving

I am currently running macOS Catalina version 10.15.4 . While trying to increase the volume of my mac's internal speakers from volume icon on the menu bar. The volume slider's pointer is not following my cursor, and the volume is increasing with the slider's movement.

Try an NVRAM reset:

Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

Umm.. I think you can try to use the keys instead, for the time being, till the problem is solved. Try a restart. Also I know that macOS Catalina 10.15.4 is a bit faulty with some bugs, don’t worry Apple is working out there to fix the issues, or you can just contact Apple support.
