What would be the best cable to transfer data from my old Early2015 MacBook Pro to a new MacBook Air?

you could get a thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter, then maybe a usb-c cable to the macbook air. or a USB 3.0 to usb-c adapter cable. You'd be using Migration assistant, I guess
