Apple Wathc GPS does not work GRRR!

i have a 5th gen Apple watch.

GPS doesnt seem to work at all with anything.

i initally thought it was working for the walking aspect but i am now since to believe that it is based of Pedometer data opposed to GPS Data.

i use my watch for cycling and i cannot get it to work at all for that.

i have checked all privacy settings on iphone + Watch

Done updates to phone and watch ... still nothing .

i have read online that this is common but no one seems to have a soloution.

any help would be great.
