stuck imac
My older iMac got stuck trying to install OS X El Capitan. Cannot get back to the original OS X.

Boot to your Recovery HD, restart the mac while pressing and holding the Command and R keys.
When booted up click on Disk Utility and run First Aid on the disk.
When you get the green tick, reboot your mac as normal and try installing El Capitan again.
